Has it only been 6 months?! My mind seems to be at war with the idea that I have only spent 6 months in Thailand.
6 Months in Thailand
It simultaneously feels like only a few weeks and many years since I arrived in Thailand. Memories of my first day in Thailand regularly pop up and I still recall the intense excitement I had felt. Even my first month in Thailand feels like such a long time ago yet I recall it with such clarity.
3 Biggest Lessons I’ve Recently Learned
After having spent 6 months in Thailand, I find myself pondering the lessons I have learned during my grand adventure. These lessons are by no means life-changing but they remain relevant in my life.
1. People Come and People Go
My time here in Thailand has certainly influenced my way of thinking and how I perceive the world and the people around me. I have made good friends that I almost consider family, but I’ve also had to say goodbye to marvellous people along the way. I’ve learned to appreciate the time with each person and be grateful for the time we shared together.
2. How You Make Your Living
Thailand has made me realize that there are so many ways to make a living and that an office job does not guarantee your way to success. There are numerous paths to success and even more paths to failure. Often we must follow different paths in order to discover the path that will work for us. I’ve learned that each of us must choose our own path and follow through with it and fight for what we want.
3. Different Dreams and Ambitions
During my first weeks, I had formed an assumption that everyone that comes to Thailand also likes to travel a lot. This assumption certainly is not true and I’ve been proven wrong countless times. I have met people that work in Thailand and support a family back home and I’ve also met people that travel every weekend and have no intention of stopping. Just because you’re in a different country doesn’t mean people drastically change. I’ve learned that regardless of where people live, they still have different dreams and ambitions and they work to making these a reality.
So Much More To Come
There are boundless opportunities for more travel and I look forward to seeing as much as I can. I do not know for how long I will stay here, maybe only 6 more months or maybe 5 years; I’m making it up as I go along.
What are some of the lessons you have learned while travelling?
